Tuesday, October 1, 2013 The Supreme Court of Israel continued to deliberate yesterday’s request by Honenu to reverse the decision by the district court not to release Ofer Gamliel. The court rejected the appeal on a technicality without dealing with the substance of the plea. Gamliel’s attorney will be able to present the pleas again before the parole board in December. See here for background information on the case. The district court also overturned the paroles board’s decision to release Shlomi Dvir.
Once again the court system has missed an opportunity to release Jewish prisoners in response to the government’s release of Arab murderers.
