Sunday, November 24, 2024, 10:28 On Saturday night, after Shabbat, the Jerusalem Magistrates Court released three of the five Yehuda and Shomron residents who were detained in Hevron on Shabbat after protesting against the GOC of the Central Command, Major-General Avi Bluth. Two other residents remain in remand.
Honenu Attorney Daniel Shimshilashvilli, who is representing the residents, stated, “Despite the dramatic declarations of ‘severe assault’ on the Major-General, the matter was revealed in court to have been a small, quiet demonstration. Not one of the detainees came into contact with the Major-General. It appears that several Yehuda and Shomron residents were detained solely due to their physical appearance and a desire show the Major-General ‘performance in the field.’ My clients reported to me that while they were held handcuffed for hours during the detention, the police officers treated them in a humiliating and brutal manner. We proved in court that there was no connection between some of my clients and the crime of which they were accused. I expect that the same will be proven for my other clients as well, and that they will be released to their homes soon.”
