Sunday, November 21, 2021, 20:01 On the evening of Sunday November 21, dozens of protesters blocked the entrance to Jerusalem with a display depicting the death of Ahuvia Sandak, z”l: an overturned car with red paint spilled around it simulating blood and a doll simulating a human body trapped underneath it. Signs were hung on the car reading “Justice for Ahuvia” and “We demand an external investigation – Jewish blood is not cheap”. The protesters also called for the Central Unit of the Yehuda and Shomron Police to be shut down.
One of the protesters stated: “It is important to us to illustrate to the public how Ahuvia’s tragic death occurred. We are approaching the one-year anniversary of his death, and it is simply inconceivable that the policemen who killed him have not only not yet stood trial, but have returned to work as usual in the Central Unit of the Yehuda and Shomron Police. This evening, a difficult evening, on which a murderous terror attack occurred [in the Old City of Jerusalem], we call for justice, for the policemen to stand trial. Everything must be done so that there will not be another incident such as this, G-d forbid.”
Over the past few weeks, demonstrations protesting the conduct of the Israeli Police following the death of Ahuvia Sandak, z”l, have been renewed. Hundreds of activists, together with the Sandak family, have demonstrated several times in Jerusalem. The family’s calls for a thorough investigation into what happened have increased following various revelations of failures in the investigation of the policemen involved with Ahuvia’s death. The family hopes that the policemen will stand trial soon, thereby doing at least a bit of justice for their deceased son.
The police removed the display from the site after over an hour.
