Friday, June 23, 2023, 10:00 Shortly before midnight last night, three Yehuda and Shomron residents in their 20s, one of them married, were detained by the Yehuda and Shomron Police and transferred to a GSS facility for interrogation. They are under an order prohibiting them from meeting with an attorney. Honenu Attorneys Nati Rom and Adi Keidar are representing the detainees.
After the detention, Attorney Rom reported, “As of this moment, I have not been allowed to advise the detainees. Despite repeated requests, we have not been given the order, and therefore preventing the detainees from meeting with an attorney is illegal. We hope that the security forces in general and the special forces, in particular, will be diverted to combatting our enemies, dealing with the large amounts of illegal weapons that they have amassed, and preventing terror attacks such as those that have occurred recently. Maybe then order will return to the area.”
This morning, Attorney Keidar urgently appealed to the Jerusalem District Court against the order the GSS served to the three Yehuda and Shomron residents who were detained yesterday (Thursday) evening. They are friends of the Eli terror attack murder victims.
In the appeal, Attorney Keidar requested an urgent hearing. He wrote, “The appellees’ attorney has not received any information regarding the violations attributed to them and therefore the defense can only wonder if there is a suspected connection to the events that occurred after the terror attack in Eli and the [subsequent] protests… If that is the situation, then it is obvious that there were insufficient grounds to issue the orders that are supposed to be reserved for extreme cases.”
