Thursday, October 15, 2026, 13:26 On Sunday morning, the Shabak (GSS) and the Yehuda and Shomron District Police detained two security personnel from the Shomron for questioning by the Shabak. One of the detainees was released on Tuesday to house arrest, and the other was released today (Thursday) following a hearing at the Petah Tikva Magistrate’s Court hearing.

Judge Dan Bauman, despite the prosecution’s request to extend the detention by an additional eight days, ruled that he sees no reason to continue holding the detainee at the Shabak facility. He accepted the position of Honenu Attorney Nati Rom and ordered the detainee’s release to seven days of house arrest. The prosecution will file a request to stay the decision.

Honenu Attorney Nati Rom, who is representing the detainee, stated: “We are pleased with the necessary decision to release the detainee to house arrest. It is very difficult to see an Israeli hero held under harsh solitary conditions by the Shabak, and the court did well to put an end to it.”

Present at the hearing, alongside dozens of security coordinators (ravshatzim) and the detainee’s fellow reservists, was MK Limor Son Har-Melech (Otzma Yehudit). She stated: “The court itself ruled that it sees no reason to continue holding the security coordinator in Shabak facilities and ordered his release to an alternative form of detention.

“His family presented excellent and appropriate alternatives, and we demand that the District Court also respect the decision and allow his immediate release. This is an Israeli hero who has dedicated his life to protecting the people of Israel and the residents of the Shomron. He should be at home with his family, not behind bars. We will continue to act with every tool at our disposal until his swift release.”

Prior to the hearing, one of the security coordinators planning to attend stated: “We are coming to express support for the detainee, who is being held in Shabak solitary confinement without any justification. This hero, who risks his life every day for Israel’s security, must be released.”

During the hearing, Attorney Rom argued that the detainee has not been questioned at all in recent days and noted that he has been moved to an even smaller solitary cell. The prosecution informed the court that the detainee “is expected to be transferred to a regular detention facility soon.”

Details of the investigation remain under a gag order.
