Sunday, June 28, 2020, 20:37 On the evening of Sunday, June 28, residents of Jerusalem and visitors who were detained in the city due to the Pride March taking place at the time, contacted Honenu’s headquarters for legal assistance. All of the detainees were taken to a police station and held without having committed a crime and without cause. Honenu Attorney Moshe Poleski assisted the detainees.
Among the incidents: Someone eating a falafel at the Mahane Yehuda market was detained and taken to the Russian Compound. A young man on his way home from work to the Beit Yisrael neighborhood, just outside of Me’ah She’arim, was detained for no reason. A hareidi youth was detained while holding a protest sign in the area of Mamilla Mall in Jerusalem.
Shmuel (Zangi) Meidad, the director of Honenu: “The Israeli Police are in a state of insanity. There is no justice, no law, no human rights, and no judge, only insanity in the capital of Israel. Unfortunately there is no responsible adult, and no-one to raise the cry of those whose rights are being trampled.”
