Tuesday, January 26, 2021, 13:23 On Tuesday, January 26, in the early afternoon, at the Central Unit of Yehuda and Shomron Police Station, Honenu Attorney Nati Rom met with a Shomron resident who was detained at Tapuah Junction earlier the same day. Detectives from the Central Unit of Yehuda and Shomron Police, among them the detective who is suspected of driving the car in the car-ramming accident in which Ahuvia Sandak was killed, stopped the Shomron resident as he was driving through Tapuah Juction. The detectives then served him with an administrative order and detained him. The administrative order is signed by the GOC of the Central Command, Major-General Tamir Yadai, and imposes three months of complete house arrest on the resident.
Several weeks ago, after participating in a demonstration protesting the death of Ahuvia, the resident was threatened by a GSS agent who sent him a text message which reads, in part: “So for the sake of your family and for your own sake, take care and beware!”
One witness to the detention said that “The detectives held the resident against the fence as if he were a terrorist. I documented it and they demanded that I delete the videos. I deleted them because I didn’t know that by law it’s permitted to photograph them.” Another witness said “They didn’t let him document them. They pulled his hand down by force so that he couldn’t photograph.”

An eyewitness who was not close to the detention was able to take photographs that were not deleted.
At the police station, Honenu Attorney Nati Rom heard what had happened at Tapuah Junction, from the resident: After the detectives, some of whom are suspected of involvement with the death of Ahuvia Sandak, z”l, served him with the administrative order, he noticed that their car, the Toyota the detectives were driving when they collided with the car in which Ahuvia was a passenger, is fitted with a dash cam. This contradicts the claim by the police that the car does not have a camera. The resident started to photograph the car and castigated the detectives for killing his friend. In response a GSS agent who was at the scene ordered the policemen to detain him.
Honenu Attorney Nati Rom: “I have just left a consultation with my client, a 26-year-old [Shomron resident] here at the Central Unit of Yehuda and Shomron Police Station. He was on his way to work this morning when at the Tapuah Junction he was stopped by Central Unit of Yehuda and Shomron policemen and a GSS coordinator, the same one who had sent him a text message, a type of threat that if he didn’t behave nicely and stop protesting, he would pay for it. The GSS coordinator approached him, said, ‘I promised, and now I will keep my promise,’ and then served him with an administrative order, for which there is no legal recourse, for two months of complete house arrest.
“At this moment my client recognizes a Toyota Avensis the same color as the car in the accident with Ahuvia, z”l, with a dash cam car inside, and it was important to him to document it, because he saw that there is a camera even though the Israeli Police declared that there isn’t one. After they released him he drove in the direction of the police car and photographed it while castigating them for their involvement [with Ahuvia’s death]. These are the same policemen suspected in the incident with Ahuvia, z”l.

“Unfortunately he is in remand here over making threats. The fact that the same policemen suspected in the tragic death of Ahuvia are here, drove out to him and detained him, and the fact that the GSS coordinator who sent him a type of threat three weeks ago in a text message, and said, ‘I promised, and now I will keep my promise,’ [is also here] is a very serious breach of trust. One doesn’t behave like this in a democratic state and I hope that the detainee will be released. He, of course, is not interested in cooperating with the same policemen who are suspected [in Ahuvia’s death] and he has requested to have his say either in court or with a different police unit.”
