Tuesday, May 3, 2022, 10:48 The Ramadan wave of terror continues: An Arab attacked a Jew as he was walking to the Western Wall on Shabbat ten days ago. As of this posting, no suspects have been detained. Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher, who is representing the victim, wrote a letter, summarized below, to the Israel Police demanding that the investigation be expedited and the terrorist apprehended.
Summary of the letter:
My client was staying in the neighborhood of Pisgat Ze’ev on Shabbat, In the afternoon he decided to walk to the Western Wall to pray. Just before 12:40, he passed the Givat HaMivtar intersection, under the Bar-Lev Bridge, on the pedestrian walkway. Suddenly and for no reason, an Arab jumped out behind him, jumped on him while shouting ‘Allah hu akbar,’ and hit the back of his neck forcibly with a blunt object.
My client fell to the ground, his glasses were broken, and his kippa fell off. He started to run and fled for his life. The terrorist walked slowly and at a leisurely pace. My client reached the National Police Headquarters, where he was told that they do not operate on Shabbat. He unsuccessfully attempted to stop police cars that were passing by on the street. Following the harrowing experience, my client returned to Pisgat Ze’ev without going to the Western Wall.
After Shabbat, my client was on his way to a Terem health clinic to be examined when he lost consciousness. An ambulance came and evacuated him to Hadassa Mt. Scopus Hospital. After comprehensive examinations, he was released to his home and will require outpatient treatment. The following morning my client filed a complaint at the Lev HaBira Police Station. Later, he was summoned to point out the exact location of the incident.
This act of terror follows a rising number of incidents throughout Israel in general and Jerusalem in particular. A terrorist fearlessly attacked a Jew in broad daylight in a public place. The Givat HaMivtar intersection is a central location that is filmed from every angle. It is almost certain that the attack was documented and that it is possible to identify the terrorist. I demand that a thorough investigation be carried out, that evidence be taken from the security cameras, that a photograph of the suspect be transferred to intelligence personnel, and that the suspect be located and detained.
