Brother of Barkan terrorist detained until end of proceedings

Wednesday, November 21, 2018, 18:07 On Wednesday, November 21, the Military Court in Yehuda ordered the remand until the end of proceedings of the brother of the terrorist who carried out the October 7 attack in Barkan in which Ziv Hajbi and Kim Levengrond-Yehezkel were murdered. Additionally the court extended the remand of the terrorist’s mother until March, at which time the continuation of her remand will be judged again.
The terrorist, Ashraf Na’alwa, has not yet been apprehended, and the search for him continues. Honenu is assisting the Hajbi and Levengrond-Yehezkel families as victims of terror with the legal proceedings in the military court.
Rafi Levengrond, the father of Kim Levengrond-Yehezkel, stated in response to the decision: “In light of the facts we demand the demolition of the terrorist’s house, down to the foundations and with no delay.”
Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher welcomed the decision by the court and stated that, “Islamic terror is raised in a greenhouse environment which includes society and family. Therefore there is a need to use an iron fist when dealing with the surroundings of the terrorist. The terrorist’s family was aware of his intentions and did not prevent the attack and therefore they are participants in the horrific murder.
“We welcome the decision to detain the brother and the mother for an extended period of time. We will continue to assist the families of the murder victims during the trial. We will accompany them to deliberations in order to verify that there will be no concessions made to terror.”
