Butvika’s “catch 22”

Wed. Jan. 19
Shachar Butvika was a Border Policeman who is now jailed for beating Arabs after his friends were killed by Arabs. He has served enough time to be eligible for “vacations” from jail but was required to first go to workshops to train to be non-violent. Arabs participate in the workshops and Butvika is kept away from Arabs, so he was told that he can’t do the workshop and therefor can’t get out of jail. Honenu lawyer Adi Kedar protested, and Butvika was offered private sessions and then be forced to wait at least four more months. Attorney Kedar protested the extra time.
