Thursday, October 1, 2020, 18:42 On Thursday, October 1, Supreme Court Justice Neal Hendel issued an interim order prohibiting the IDF from demolishing the house of the terrorist who murdered Rabbi Shai Ohayon in an August stabbing attack at the Segula Junction in Petah Tikva. Justice Hendel also ruled that a deliberation on the petition demanding the demolition must be held within three weeks.
Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher, who is representing the Ohayon family and assisting them with realizing their rights as victims of terror, censured the decision: “The terrorists have already filed an objection, which was rejected by the IDF. The High Court of Justice should not serve as a permanent court of appeals opposing the operations of the IDF and their efforts to deter terrorists. The time has come to order the immediate demolition of the house, without an interim order and without delay, in order to reinforce the deterrence factor. When it becomes clears that an extreme mistake has been made by not demolishing the house, the family will be able to demand compensation by means of the High Court of Justice.”
