Tuesday, December 14, 2021, 16:31 Following an appeal filed by Honenu Attorney Adi Keidar against the decision by a police officer to release an attack victim under restrictive conditions, including house arrest, the Petah Tikva Magistrates Court lifted the conditions on Tuesday, December 14.
At the hearing, Keidar, who is representing the victim, stated: “The victim has stitches in his head. What sort of judgement is the police using? This is a case [of an incident] that could have ended in tragedy.” At the conclusion of the hearing, the sides agreed to the lifting of the restrictive conditions, other than the prohibition to contact anyone involved with the case, and the court concurred.
Honenu Attorney Adi Keidar: “The court accepted the appeal, applied considerable pressure on the representative of the Israeli Police, and expressed its claims in addition to ours, which caused the police to cancel their scandalous and discriminatory decision with regard to the release conditions. We now ask the police for a thorough investigation of the assailants and their prosecution to the full extent of the law. Only by a miracle did the incident end as it did.”
The incident occurred in early December at a construction site in Ra’anana. Dozens of Arab construction workers violently attacked two Jewish welders with tools, injuring them in the head and back. They were evacuated to Meir Hospital in K’far Saba for medical treatment.
