Thursday, September 5, 2024, 9:29 On Tuesday morning, the Yehuda and Shomron Police and the GSS detained three Yehuda and Shomron residents, two of them minors. The detainees were taken to GSS dungeons and interrogated without being granted their right to meet with an attorney. This morning (Thursday), the prohibition to meet with an attorney was extended by three days for the minors, thus they will have been in remand for a week without the benefit of legal counsel. Honenu Attorneys Daniel Shimshilashvili, Moshe Poleski, and Assaf Gonen are representing the detainees.
Attorney Shimshilashvili: “We filed an urgent appeal against the contemptible orders preventing the detainees from meeting with an attorney. We hope that the appeal will be accepted so that we will be able to hear from our clients what transpired in the GSS dungeons and facilitate their release quickly. I call on the security authorities to use such orders against only terrorists, not Yehuda and Shomon residents. We will go as far as the Supreme Court to defend the rights of our clients.”
Attorney Poleski: “This week, three police officers were murdered in a premeditated shooting ambush by terrorists, and only by a miracle did two car bombs planted near Jewish communities not explode. Instead of focusing on the raging war on terror, the GSS are abusing the authority granted to them by law for that purpose and instead violating the rights of Yehuda and Shomron residents, including minors.”
