Friday, March 8, 2024, 11:57 The harassment of right-wing activist Ariel Danino continues. Yesterday (Thursday) afternoon, GSS coordinators arrived at Dekel Prison where Danino has been held in administrative detention for four months and took him out of his cell on the pretense of taking him to meet with his attorneys. He was then taken to an interrogation with GSS investigators. They threatened him that if he did not cooperate with them, “It would be a shame. You have a lot to lose,” among other threats. It became apparent that confrontation was due to the scheduling of a hearing at the Lod District Court the following week on the request filed by Honenu Attorney Adi Keidar for the release of Jewish administrative detainees, including Danino, in light of the recent release of over 60 Arab administrative detainees from prison due to “overcrowding”.

Honenu Attorney Adi Keidar leveled sharp criticism at the GSS: “After the surprising release of Hamas terrorists as a gesture in light of the upcoming month of Ramadan, prison overcrowding, and other contrivances, I filed an urgent request on behalf of the administrative detainees represented by Honenu for their release. The Lod District Court scheduled a hearing on the request. The GSS, who as of now have not given a straightforward reply regarding the release of terrorists, paid a surprise visit to the prison where Ariel Danino is being held. On the pretense of a meeting with his attorneys, he was taken out of his cell so that he could be threatened by the GSS agents. Danino was infuriated by the ruse and asked to consult with an attorney. Afterward, the GSS agents left.

“This was a corrupt machination by the GSS that presented a false impression and attempted to create an ‘advantage’ for the GSS when facing Danino before the court. It is intolerable that Danino and two other Jews are under administrative detention while dangerous terrorists are released as a gesture of one kind or another. We regard this act with great severity and we will present it in court.”
