Tuesday, April 8, 2025, 14:03 This is the eighth day that two Yehuda and Shomron residents have been detained by the GSS under harsh conditions. Today (Tuesday) at 16:00, a hearing will be held at the Central District Court in Lod on the appeal filed by Honenu Attorneys Nati Rom and Moshe Poleski demanding their release.
Initially, the detainees were barred from meeting with an attorney for five days. The detainees in the case are all married and have children. Some of them are IDF combat soldiers who have served hundreds of days in the reserves since the beginning of the war. One of them has served over 300 days.
This morning, Attorney Rom met with one of the detainees, and as he left, he revealed their harsh remand conditions: “I have just left a difficult meeting with one of my clients, a brave combat soldier in the reserves, salt of the earth, innocent, who did not do anything wrong. He is in the GSS dungeons, in a two meter high, two by two meter cell. He has no idea when it’s day and when it’s night. We heard the head of the Jewish Department of the GSS calling for ‘settlers’ to be put in a cell with mice, despite the lack of incriminating evidence. He did recuse himself. However, the ruah hamefaked (tone set by a commander) is still strongly present. There are cockroaches and fleas in the cell. This must stop. Today at 16:00, an appeals hearing will take place in his case.”

Additional detainees in the case are the civilian security head of Malachei HaShalom and another reserve soldier. At the end of last week, the court rejected a request from the GSS and the Yehuda and Shomron Police to extend their remand. The detainees were released under restrictive conditions. This is an anomalous release, being as the hearing in their case was held while they were barred from meeting with an attorney.
