Sunday, April 6, 2025, 9:20 Today (Sunday), the Yehuda and Shomron residents detained by the GSS will be brought to a hearing at the Petah Tikva Magistrates Court at 11:30. Honenu Attorneys Moshe Poleski and Nati Rom will demand their immediate release. The detainees were initially banned from meeting with an attorney. On Friday afternoon, before the onset of Shabbat, after five days of detention, the ban was lifted. Attorneys Poleski and Rom were notified shortly before a hearing was scheduled to take place at the District Court on an appeal filed by Honenu against the ban.

All of the detainees are married and have children. Some of them are IDF combat soldiers who have served hundreds of days in reserve duty since the beginning of the war. Leading up to the hearing, Honenu Attorney Nati Rom said, “The day after the extraordinary reveal of the recording of the head of the Jewish Department of the GSS admitting his hatred for Jewish Yehuda and Shomron residents and the illegal and draconian treatment of them, we find ourselves at a court hearing for a case that could not be more pertinent. The case is a pile of hate based on disinformation and zero evidence. We can only hope that the public recognition of what the GSS actually does will reach the courtrooms and that the judges will not serve as rubber stamps for the lies of the Jewish Department.”

Honenu Attorney Moshe Poleski added, “Today, a hearing will take place at the Petah Tikva Magistrates Court at which detainees will appear, despite the complete lack of evidence or grounds. The GSS is demanding the detention of suspects who have done nothing wrong, only because that is the law enforcement policy of the GSS.

“This illegal policy violates human rights and the rights of suspects. It is all because of a distorted world view that the people who endanger the area are the Jewish residents. The GSS, instead of fulfilling their purpose to combat Arab terror, divert their resources to fight Jewish youths. What a disgrace. Today, we will demand that the court immediately release the detainees.”

Two other Yehuda and Shomron residents, the civilian head of security of Malachei HaShalom and a reserve soldier, were also detained. Last week, the court denied a request by the GSS and the Yehuda and Shomron Police to extend their remand by four days and conditionally released them. The release was an anomaly as the hearing for them was held while they were prohibited from meeting with an attorney.
