Saturday, June 24, 2023, 21:32 On Saturday night, after Shabbat, Honenu Director Shmuel (Zangi) Meidad responded to the announcement by the Chief of Staff and the Police Commissioner. Meidad said that they were turning the victims into attackers and that the IDF and the Israel Police had failed in the war on terror. He called on his colleagues in the Yehuda and Shomron leadership and the government not to be silent in the face of this injustice.
Meidad stated, “Over the past few weeks there have been many terror attacks on civilians and soldiers throughout the Yehuda and Shomron regions – shootings, roadside explosives, rock throwing, Molotov cocktails, and mass disturbances with dozens of rioting Arabs whose only goal was murder. Unfortunately, although there were many miracles, terror also succeeded, and there were severe attacks on soldiers and civilians. The terrorists have widespread support in Palestinian Authority-controlled areas, on the street, and among the leadership: encouragement, support, incitement, and persuasion.
“Unfortunately, the IDF and the Israel Police are failing in the war on terror and not taking action. Roads are blocked for hours at a time, armed Arabs celebrate in shows of force, mass funerals and demonstrations are held for the purpose of incitement to terror – and nobody will put a stop to the terror. The Police Commissioner and the Chief of Staff have failed. I call on them to provide Jews with security or turn in their keys. You are turning the victims into attackers. Your current statements are an attempt to cover up your failure in the war on Arab terror that is murdering us.
“Unfortunately, instead of fighting terror, the Israel Police and the IDF are taking out their frustrations on Jews refusing to be quietly murdered and protesting about it. I call on my colleagues in Yehuda, Shomron, and the government to speak out against this injustice. This injustice is costing lives. The system must give soldiers and residents of Yehuda and Shomron security, not demoralize them. Do all that you can to that end,” added Meidad.
