Sunday, July 19, 2026, 15:37 Honenu Attorney Chaim Bleicher submitted a notice of representation and a request for information to Jerusalem District Police Commander Avshalom Peled after a young Jewish man was seriously injured by a concrete block thrown at his head. Attorney Bleicher classified the incident as an attempted murder motivated by nationalism.

Attorney Bleicher’s request states that on the afternoon of July 2, three young Jewish men were returning to their vehicle parked on Wadi Hilweh Street near the Old City. They were confronted by a group of Arab youths who cursed them, spat at them, and violently attacked them, while concrete blocks and other objects were thrown at them from nearby rooftops. One block struck one of the young men directly on the head, fracturing his skull and causing serious injury. He was evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center, and his two companions were also hurt.

The victims filed a police complaint, but the only suspect who had been detained has already been released. Attorney Bleicher stresses that this was a racist-nationalistic attack. There was no prior acquaintance between the attackers and the victims. The victims’ lives were placed in genuine danger, and therefore the attack must be treated as attempted murder.

In the request, Honenu demands that the police arrest and prosecute all the suspects, in particular the attacker who threw the heavy concrete block that fractured the young man’s skull. The organization also calls for the house from which the block was thrown — which it says served as a place for the attacker to conceal himself — to be sealed, and asks to be kept informed of the progress of the case and its transfer to the prosecution.

Attorney Bleicher stated: “This is an attempted murder in every sense of the word. Arab assailants violently attacked young Jews, throwing objects and heavy concrete blocks from the roof until one of them was struck on the head. His skull was crushed, and he survived only by a miracle. An event of this kind cannot be treated as an ordinary assault. We expect the police to arrest everyone involved, first and foremost the person who threw the block, and to seal the house in which he hid. Releasing the only suspect who was detained sends a dangerous message and encourages further attacks on Jews. We will continue to assist the victims until justice is done.”
