Sunday, March 30, 2025, 16:12 Three years ago, police officers detained the resident of an outpost that he founded near Ma’aleh Amos in Gush Etzion. The officers claimed that he had violated a closed military zone order. The resident was banned from entering the site for 15 days. After the ban expired, he returned to site and was detained again. He was taken to the police station and illegally strip-searched down to his underclothes. After the search, he was interrogated and held in remand over night despite the lack of probable cause.

The following morning, he was transferred to the detention center at the Russian Compound in Jerusalem, where he was again strip-searched. After the incident, Honenu Attorney Menashe Yado sued the Israel Police and the Prison Service for NIS 30,000 on behalf of the resident. Recently, in a compromise agreement, the Jerusalem Magistrates Court awarded the resident NIS 15,000 in compensation.

Attorney Yado reacted to the ruling: “We are pleased with the court’s decision and will continue to defend the fundamental rights of Yehuda and Shomron residents. Honenu closely follows events involving interactions between police and Israeli citizens in Yehuda and Shomron and provides legal backing to Jewish communities and individuals, to help them survive and flourish.”
