Left-wing activist harassed couple, case closed

Sunday, July 7, 2019, 15:53 The investigative case against Guy Hirshfeld, a radical left-wing activist who assaulted and harassed a married couple from Mevo’ot Yeriho in the Jordan Valley, has been closed due to “lack of sufficient evidence” despite the fact that the incident was documented and filmed. Hirshfeld cursed the couple and called them “terrorist” and “the wife of a terrorist”.

Following a complaint from the couple, which was filed on their behalf by Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher, Hirshfeld was given an order distancing him from Mevo’ot Yeriho. However after he appealed the conditions of the order the police changed their mind and the conditions were canceled. The case against him was closed recently.
Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher: “We demand prosecution to the full extent of the law of provocateurs whose aim is to make the lives of Jewish residents [of the Jordan Valley] miserable. This incident was a blatant and serious offense against the couple, which was filmed. There is no logical reason not to bring the suspect to justice. The failure to bring Guy Hirshfeld to justice will allow him to continue his harmful actions and destabilize the security of the residents.”
In the complaint Bleicher described the incident. Approximately three months ago the couple was driving in their car near the community of Mevo’ot Yeriho where they “encountered a serious provocation by the anarchist [Guy] Hirshfeld, who was violent, made threats, verbally harassed the couple and in addition to all that, sexually harassed my client [the wife].”
The couple had stopped their car so that the husband could speak to a shepherd with whom he is acquainted. “Then the anarchist, the defendant, started to antagonize my client and to harass her. The defendant approached my client in a threatening manner while she sat in the stopped car.
When the husband noticed this he “rushed to assist his wife and passively placed his body between the defendant and my client. The defendant verbally abused my client with insults and anti-Semitic expressions. He called them, among other epithets, ‘terrorist’, ‘terrorist’s girlfriend and wife’. My client was assaulted by the defendant while he was blocking his wife’s window from the defendant, who attempted the entire time to reach her.”
At some point Hirshfeld shouted many times at the wife, “Give me a ‘like’, give me a ‘like’. Don’t get upset,” while he uploaded her photograph to his Facebook page and described her as the wife of a terrorist. The husband phoned the police at the time of the incident.
Throughout the entire incident Hirshfeld circled the couple’s car while trying to get past the husband and reach the wife. He did succeed in getting past the husband, and ran towards the wife who was sitting in the car. Hirshfeld pressed up against her window, violating her personal space. He called out to her: “What’s up? What’s up? Is everything OK? You don’t have to worry about me. I’m in favor of peaceful ways.”
