Sunday, April 27, 2025, 14:36 Two months ago, the GOC of the Central Command, Major-General Avi Bluth, imposed an administrative order on a minor banning him from Yehuda and Shomron and placing him under nighttime house arrest for six months. Since the start of the house arrest, the minor and his family have suffered from harassment by police officers who come late at night to verify that he is at home. The officers cause disturbances and intimidate the minor’s family and neighbors.
Several weeks ago, Honenu Attorney Adi Keidar wrote to Major-General Bluth on behalf of the minor, asking him to allow the minor to study and prepare for the upcoming matriculation exams at his yeshiva in the Binyamin region. Attorney Keidar cited that the faculty at the yeshiva would supervise the minor, who would return home every day accompanied by a teacher. Major-General Bluth refused the request and claimed in a letter to Attorney Keidar that the minor posed “a danger to the security of the region.”
The minor’s mother leveled sharp criticism at Major-General Bluth: “It is unacceptable that in Israel of 2025, my son’s fundamental right to an education is violated. His future is being jeopardized. [The police] are also disproportionately violating the fundamental human rights of the entire family. We have no opportunity for a hearing. No evidence has been presented, and no trial was granted, while over the past few weeks, the identity of the individual giving the despicable orders, and what his motives are, has been clarified. This arbitrary harassment has no basis in reality. It is based only on hatred of Yehuda and Shomron residents and builders of Israel. We call for the immediate cancellation of the [administrative restraining] order.”
Attorney Keidar leveled criticism at the GSS: “The actual authority behind Major-General Bluth’s decision is the GSS, which clearly indicates that there is ongoing harassment of Jewish Yehuda and Shomron residents. The situation is particularly outrageous in light of the fact that the matter at hand is a minor who only wants to take his matriculation exams.”
