More King David’s Tomb detainees unconditionally released

Sunday, May 25, 2014 14:08 Three Jews were detained on the night of Saturday, May 24 (after Shabbat) in various locations in Jerusalem and the Binyamin region by detectives from the Department of Nationalist Crime in the Central Unit of the Yehuda and Shomron Police. They were detained on suspicion of planning a protest against the Pope’s visit to Israel, in particular to King David’s Tomb. The police requested that the detainees sign on house arrest until after the visit and they refused.
The police also requested that the Commander of the Home Front Command, Major General Ayal Eisenberg sign an administrative order banning the detainees from entering Jerusalem until the end of the Pope’s visit. He refused. The police then requested that the Jerusalem Magistrate Court issue an order to the same effect, and were refused.
On Sunday, May 25 the Jerusalem Magistrate Court reasoned that the detainees had the right of freedom to protest and demonstrate and unconditionally released them.
