Shilo Bloc residents detained at dawn, released after interrogation

Wednesday, July, 26, 2017, 17:53 At dawn on Wednesday, July 26, detectives from the Central Unit of the Yehuda and Shomron Police detained five Shilo Bloc residents at their homes on suspicion of causing damage to a vehicle approximately six weeks previously. Four of the detainees were released on bail after interrogation. The other, against whom a detention warrant had already been issued, was taken to the Tevaria Magistrate Court and released on bail after a deliberation.
Honenu Attorney Moshe Poleski: “This morning at dawn detectives from the Central Unit of the Yehuda and Shomron Police dragged several young men suspected of causing property damage approximately six weeks ago out of bed for interrogation. After some of the detainees gave alibis, and all of them gave testimony and denied any involvement with the incident, all of them were released to their homes.”
Poleski added that, “We have witnessed time after time the very problematic conduct of the Central Unit of the Yehuda and Shomron Police who repeatedly detain suspects for interrogation without a formal summons, a long time after the incident in question, and then immediately release them after interrogation. In my opinion the police are misusing the authority granted to them to detain suspects and I intend to work towards rectifying the matter.”
