Friday, October 28, 2022, 12:23 On Tuesday, late at night, the Central Unit of the Jerusalem Police and the GSS detained two Jewish men in their 20s, apparently on suspicion of assisting residents of the Shimon HaTzadik neighborhood to defend their home as Arabs were attacking it several days previously. The police did not provide the residents with assistance.
Since their detention, the detainees have been under interrogation by the GSS and have been prohibited from meeting with an attorney. Today (Friday), outside of the Jerusalem District Court, dozens of demonstrators protested the prohibition to meet with an attorney. When the police started to disperse the demonstrators, clashes broke out at the site.
Yesterday (Thursday) the detainees’ remand was extended by five days, until Monday. Also, the Central Unit of the Jerusalem Police and the GSS extended the prohibition of meeting with an attorney by five days. Honenu Attorneys Nati Rom and Avichai Hajbi are representing the detainees.
