Wednesday, August 28, 2024, 13:21 Honenu is leading the legal battle for the release of several Yehuda and Shomron residents who were detained two weeks ago on suspicion of assaulting Bedouin women in Givat Ronen, a Shomron community. The Jerusalem Magistrates Court released one detainee to house arrest after several days of remand.
Today (Wednesday), the court released two additional detainees, one of whom is a soldier in the IDF Engineering Corps, to house arrest. After much effort, Honenu Attorney Assaf Gonen successfully reached an agreement with the police regarding the release conditions. Also today, a hearing is scheduled to be held for an additional detainee in the case. Honenu Attorney Nati Rom, who is representing him, will demand his release. Another detainee in the case has been served with an administrative detention order signed by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, although no evidence against him has been found.
Honenu Attorney Gonen: “As we asserted from the start, the police do not have even a scrap of evidence against most of the detainees in this case, and indeed, they have been released.”
