Two of Honenu’s computers still being held by police

Wednesday, June 15 14:02 The Israeli police are persecuting the website of HaKol HaYehudi and in the process harming also Honenu.
Approximately a week and a half ago Elhanan Gruner, an employee of Honenu and operator of its website, who also works on the website of HaKol HaYehudi, was arrested. The Binyamin police claimed that he was connected to setting afire the vehicle of the Binyamin police department commander at the time of the destruction of Alei Ayin, and confiscated his cameras, a computer belonging to Honenu and accompanying computer and Internet accessories. Despite the court’s ruling that there is no evidence linking Gruner or the hitchhikers that were in his car to the vehicular arson, all of the equipment is still being held by the police.
Judge Avital Chen ruled that the equipment would be returned on Monday, three days after the arrest, however investigators from the Binyamin Police Department claimed that the judge had not written in his decision which Monday he intended and therefore it could be that he intended Monday in one month’s time…
Last Monday approximately 200 policemen raided the community of Yitzhar. The police conducted a search of the homes of three employees of HaKol HaYehudi, among them Elhanan Gruner, and confiscated the computers in their possession. In Gruner’s home the police confiscated an additional computer belonging to Honenu that had been brought to Gruner by another employee of the organization, for use until the return of the computer that had been confiscated earlier by the Binyamin police…
Additionally the police raided an office they claimed was used by HaKol HaYehudi. The police broke into the room of the Shechem Archive, the room used by Midreshet Tzafnat and the Kollel Halacha of HaRav Dudkevitch, the community rabbi of Yitzhar. Despite the explanation given by witnesses that the offices are not connected to HaKol HaYehudi, three computers belonging to the Shechem Archive and a Yitzhar resident were immediately confiscated.
Simultaneously the police raided the homes of five additional residents. One received a court summons, two received a summons for inquiry, and the houses of an additional three residents were erroneously raided after the police confused the addresses. The police woke up three families, including their small children, at five o’clock in the morning, and without apologizing left after realizing their error in the address.
Also simultaneously the police woke up the students of Yeshivat Od Yosef Chai and Dorshei Yechudkha and arrested one of the students on suspicion of participation in an incident several months ago.
In the end four residents were detained for investigation and released immediately.
This morning a deliberation took place at the Petah Tikva Magistrate Court on the confiscation of the computers by the police. The court authorized continued confiscation for one more week.
