Please see here a list of posts relating to cases in which Honenu provided legal counsel to victims of antisemitic attacks in Jerusalem.
Wednesday, April 28, 2021, 15:06 A Jewish youth was brutally assaulted in the Shimon HaTzadik neighborhood of Jerusalem at the beginning of this week. As he was returning from the Tomb of Shimon HaTzadik, dozens of Arabs who noticed him near Route 1 called out, “Jew”, and attacked him.
Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher sent a letter to the Shalem Police Station describing the attack: The terrorists severely beat my client in all parts of his body with large clubs. They brazenly beat him for a long time while filming the incident, and then posted the video on the TikTok social media platform. Jewish eyewitnesses called the police, and after they arrived, the youth succeeded in extricating himself from his assailants. He was evacuated to the Hadassah Mt. Scopus Hospital, injured and bruised in all parts of his body.
The youth described his condition: “I don’t feel well at all. I’m in pain all over my body and I have three broken vertebrae. I have no feeling in my body. I’m completely broken. This was an attempted lynch in the full sense of the word.” Police investigators came to the hospital to take his testimony and he was informed that three suspects had been apprehended.
Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher, who is representing the youth: “A horrific incident such as this must be thoroughly investigated. The Israeli Police is expected to make every effort to locate all of the many assailants who were at the site and to enforce the law to its full extent.
“Over the past few weeks we have witnessed a series of severe antisemitic attacks, here, in the center of Jerusalem, the capital of Israel. An Arab mob backed by Arab members of Knesset brutally beat a Jew until his life was in danger. Not one Arab present protected him. This must awaken all of us to understand that there is a national state of emergency. We call on the police and the government to use all means necessary to combat the enemy that is rising against us in our own city. Anyone who participated in or encouraged acts such as this must not be allowed to continue walking in our midst.”
