Wednesday, October 14, 2026, 7:52 On Sunday morning, the Shabak (GSS) and the Yehuda and Shomron District Police detained two security personnel from the Shomron for questioning by the Shabak. One of the detainees was released yesterday (Tuesday) to house arrest.
The wife of the second detainee, whose name and details remain under a gag order, sent an urgent letter this morning to the head of the Shabak (GSS), David Zini, asking for his release. She wrote: “My husband grew up in the Shomron with values of love for the people and the homeland. Even before the war he served many days of reserve duty, and like so many good people in this country, he reported to his base on that black Simchat Torah [October 7]. He recently received a letter of commendation.
“After everything he has given the country, and after the personal price he has already paid because of the war, it breaks my heart to think that he now has to contend with the system itself, that is threatening, through its actions, to harm him, his good name, and the hard work he has done to protect security.
“My husband went through difficult and scarring events during the war. He saw friends killed and wounded and was forced to collect the remains of comrades-in-arms. The blindfold they are placing on him for no logical reason could put him in a very difficult state.
“Shabak chief Zini, I implore you: remove him today from the dark, suffocating solitary cell he is in. There is no reason to hold him in such disgraceful conditions in a small, dark cell with no daylight. Release him!”
Honenu Attorney Nati Rom, who met with the detainees yesterday, stated: “These are the finest of our young men, who have contributed so much and risked their lives for the people and the country, and they are being held like this. A measure intended for terrorists is being used against them. This demands a strong public outcry. These men do not deserve such treatment. They are kept in solitary confinement under severe conditions, unable to tell day from night, in a cell only 2 by 2 meters. I call on the head of the Shabak, David Zini, to end this immediately.”
Honenu Attorney Assaf Gonen, who is representing the released detainee, said: “A great and terrible injustice has been done by the authorities to my client. He is a heroic soldier who contributes to the country and does not deserve this treatment. It was right to release him to his home.”
