Saturday, December 4, 2021, 22:48 The parents of Ahuvia Sandak, z”l, who was killed in a police car chase one year ago, made a statement in light of the investigation of the border policemen who killed a terrorist near Sha’ar Shechem (Damascus Gate) in Jerusalem:
“The border policemen who killed a terrorist attempting to murder Jews in the capital city of Israel are heroes. Our son was killed by policemen, and that did not interest Keren Bar-Menachem [the head of the Police Investigation Unit (PIU)]. For hours, the policemen did not fill out police action reports. They had all the time in world to coordinate testimonies, and she [Bar-Menachem] released them on the same evening, without their giving testimony, and without their being asked a single question. It was only after four days of protests and public pressure that she bothered to start investigating the death of a youth.
“And this evening, they rushed to interrogate policemen who saved lives during a clearly documented attack. A black flag flies over the PIU. This evening is clear evidence that there must be an external investigation into the death of our sweet son, Ahuvia, z”l. The death of a youth in Israel at the hands of policemen must be genuinely investigated, not whitewashed.”
