Ben Uliel to be transferred to Eshel Prison

Tuesday, February 25, 2020, 13:08 The Prison Service informed Amiram Ben Uliel, the central defendant in the Kfar Duma case, that they intend to transfer him from the isolation wing in the Sharon Prison in central Israel to the Eshel Prison outside of Be’er Sheva in southern Israel. No unusual occurrence preceded the announcement and there is not a clear reason for it. The significance of the transfer, other than a worsening of his prison conditions, is the additional hardship for his wife and five-year-old daughter, who have been visiting him every week and will now have to travel much farther to see him.

Amiram Ben Uliel’s wife, Orian: “This is abuse for the sake of abuse. During the interrogations Amiram underwent severe torture and since then they have not stopped abusing him or us. Amiram is being held under the harshest conditions in the Prison Service: isolation, no phone calls, visits behind a partition only, closed up all day in a small cell, even the few minutes a day that he sees the sky are through grates and screens. And that is not enough for them. They abuse him more and more. This is all an attempt to break us, but we are strong. This entire case is a blood libel and a frame-up by the Attorney General’s office, the GSS and the Prison Service, who are assisting them in their attempt to break Amiram. My husband is innocent and it will be proven soon. This is an embarrassment for the State of Israel in 2020.”
The Central District Court is scheduled to rule on the petition filed by Chai Haber on Ben Uliel’s behalf on Tuesday, February 25. In one week’s time an additional deliberation will take place in the trial. Ben Uliel’s attorneys, Asher Ohayon and Yitzhak Bam are expected to orally state the conclusions of the case which they have already submitted in writing to the court. The attorneys have demanded complete exoneration of Ben Uliel in light of fact that his confessions were extracted under extreme duress and the reenactment of crime was carried out under threats by GSS interrogators and in violation of the guidelines.
