Tuesday, February 6, 2024, 11:32 This morning, the police detained a busload of 50 protesters on their way to block the Kerem Shalom Crossing through which humanitarian aid trucks pass to enter the Gaza Strip. The police ordered the bus driver to change course and drive to the Netivot Police Station. The protesters were taken into custody and Honenu is providing them with legal counsel.

Honenu director Shmuel (Zangi) Meidad stated, “This morning, Prime Minister Netanyahu imitated the acts of Arik Sharon prior to the [summer 2005] Expulsion of Jews from Gush Katif. Netanyahu decided to cut off the protest of humanitarian aid passing through the Kerem Shalom Crossing to the Gaza Strip with the methods that Sharon invented [to thwart protest of the Expulsion]. Dear friends, supporters of the protest that is completely and utterly justified, I ask you to stop this protest for a moment and come to the demonstration opposite the Prime Minister’s residence this Thursday. I think that residents of Gaza Envelope communities who are still unable to return to their homes will join this worthy demonstration and that it will be a grass-roots event with a wide range of participants.”
