Demand filed with TIPH to compensate assaulted minor

Wednesday, July 25, 2018, 10:26 On Monday, July 23, Honenu filed a demand with the Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH) to compensate a child assaulted by an employee of the organization. In an incident which occurred on July 11, an observer working for the TIPH was filmed in Hebron forcefully slapping the child in the face. Honenu Attorney Menashe Yado filed a demand for 75,000 NIS in compensation in the name of the child’s parents.
A segment of the letter reads: “The employee was filmed forcefully slapping a minor in the face. The organization [TIPH] accepted responsibility for the incident and removed the employee from the borders of the State [of Israel]. Subsequently the organization was requested to accept responsibility also on a private level and to pay appropriate compensation to the minor for the assault. Assaulting a minor with such strong force constitutes an injustice according to every standard and legal system.”
Honenu Attorney Menashe Yado stated that, “The unusual strength of the slap by the observer to the face of a minor indicates his hatred and loathing and the danger he poses to the Jewish population. The TIPH acted properly in removing the assailant from Israel. However they must also bear the cost of the damage and compensate the minor. Beyond that, we expect the State of Israel to bring the assailant to justice.”
