Detained Binyamin residents barred from meeting with attorney

Order preventing the detainees from meeting with an attorney

Tuesday, August 19, 2025, 15:20 Today, the GSS detained two Binyamin residents, one of whom is married, and they have been barred from meeting an attorney for two days. Honenu Attorneys Asaf Gonen and Daniel Shimshilashvilli are representing the detainees.

Usually in cases like this, investigators from the Yehuda and Shomron District Police handle investigations in the Binyamin region. However, in this instance, the Jerusalem District Police are handling the investigation. The irregularity is apparently in reaction to recordings recently broadcast in the public media. In the recordings, the head of the Jewish Department of the GSS is heard instructing the Yehuda and Shomron District Commander to make detentions without evidence and violate the law in other ways. The department head also described Jewish Yehuda and Shomron residents in derogatory and defamatory terms.

At this time, attorneys from Honenu are asking the District Court to order the GSS to allow the detainees to meet with their attorneys.
