Monday, January 6, 2020, 9:02 On the morning of Monday, January 6, the GSS extended the order prohibiting recent GSS detainees from meeting with an attorney. For one of the detainees detained last week the order has been extended until Wednesday, for a second until Tuesday at 16:00. A detainee detained on Saturday night, after Shabbat, has been prohibited to meet with an attorney until Tuesday.
This is the fifth day that one of the detainees has been prevented from meeting with an attorney, and his status is unknown.
On Sunday, January 5, the Central District Court in Lod rejected the appeal filed on the remand extension of the detainees and today (Monday) a deliberation is expected to take place at the Petah Tikva Magistrates Court in the case of the two adults detained last week. Also on Sunday, the remand of the minor in the case and one of the adults was extended until Thursday.
Honenu Attorneys Amir Bracha, Adi Keidar, Avichai Hajbi, Nati Rom and Chai Haber are representing the detainees.
Honenu Attorney Nati Rom, who is representing the minor, leveled criticism at the court: “One must remember that my client is a minor, without a criminal record, who is suspected of planning a property crime. Therefore the prolonged detention is disproportionate, the demands by the security forces are unreasonable and the accusations are inflated. We hope that the persecution and the selective enforcement will stop.”
