Head of security released from administrative detention

Update: After the appeal by Honenu, the head of security of Havat Gilad was released from remand on the afternoon of Thursday, March 17.

Thursday, March 17, 2022, 11:17 Honenu Attorney Adi Keidar, who is representing the head of security of Havat Gilad, claimed that he is being held in administrative detention illegally. Therefore Keidar demanded that the Lod District Court order the cancellation of the remand. The court ordered the Prison Service to respond to the claim by today at 12:00.

Keidar: “Yesterday, at the hearing for the administrative detainee, it turned out that the provisions of law regarding his remand conditions are not being implemented. The President of the Lod District Court ordered the Prison Service to immediately examine these claims. We are of the opinion that due the lack of a place of remand that corresponds to the provisions of law, the administrative detention has no validity and it should be canceled.‏

“In the law pertaining to administrative detention there is a special and unique provision of law that establishes that the defense minister decides the place of remand. The purpose of the law is to implement the provisions of law with regard to the conditions under which a security detainee will be held and therefore from the moment they are not fulfilled, as far as we are concerned the order is not valid.
