Jerusalem: After the murder of Eden Atias, hy”d, 150 protested the rise in terror, 3 detained

Thursday, November 14, 2013 16:07 Three protesters were detained at a demonstration protesting the weakness of the government in handling the rising number of terror attacks during the past few months. The police are currently attempting to control the protesters. Honenu attorney Adi Kedar, who is representing the detainees, stated that, “It is a shame that we do not see such determination in the treatment of infiltrators who damage the security of citizens and their property”
Three protesters were detained for unruliness and calling out insults against Arabs on Thursday, November 14 during a demonstration protesting the weakness of the government’s treatment of Arab terror in Israel. One of the detainees is a 16 year old girl accused of shouting “Death to the Arabs”. The protest was held adjacent to the Jerusalem Bridge of Strings at the entrance to the city and totaled approximately 150 protesters holding signs which read “The Jewish People Lives” and “Death to the Arabs” and calling on the government to act strongly against Arab terror.
“We must not remain silent in the face of the government’s weakness. Arabs are murdering us without fear and are admitting that they acted for the sake of the Palestinian People,” said one of the protesters. “They know very well that the government will release them in one of the next rounds of prisoner releases and they can laugh at us in our faces. The detainees are a clear example of the attempt by the State to silence anyone who tries to object to this foolishness. It is a shame that they don’t act with this amount of force against those who seek to harm us.”
The protest was held in response to the murder by an Arab terrorist of the soldier Eden Atias, hy”d, as he slept on the bus returning from Afula to his base, in response to the announcement that the murderers of Col. (reserves) Sariya Ofer committed the murder as a nationalist act, a “present for Hamas prisoners” and also in response to the increase in terror attacks that have occurred in the past few months in Israel. Large numbers of policemen were on site, attempting to maintain order.
Honenu attorney Adi Kedar, who represented the detainees, stated that, “The Israeli police again violated the rights of protesters and injured the freedom of expression of Jews opposing the weakness of the State in protecting the security of its citizens. It is a shame that we do not see such determination in the treatment of infiltrators who damage the security of citizens and their property.”
