Sunday, September 14, 2025, 11:42 In 2014, a Jewish youth was detained after he was suspected of attacking a shop under Arab ownership. The youth was placed under house arrest for two and a half years, wearing an electronic ankle monitor. Honenu, who is representing the youth, revealed during his trial that the court order had not been renewed as required by law. Therefore, the youth had been illegally held with an ankle monitor for over a year. In light of the injustice, Honenu Attorney Menashe Yado sued the State of Israel for NIS 200,000 on behalf of the youth. Recently, in a compromise agreement, the Jerusalem Magistrates Court awarded the youth NIS 180,000.

Attorney Yado stated: “Honenu Attorney David HaLevi uncovered the injustice that had been done to the youth, and at the time brought about his immediate release. After his release, we filed the suit so that the youth would receive compensation. We thank the Honorable Judge Sharon Natanel, who brought the case to its fair conclusion. We also thank the Jerusalem District Attorney’s office. They recognized the responsibility of the various State authorities for the injustice, and fully justified the need to compensate the youth with an appropriate settlement.”
