Sunday, April 27, 2025, 8:52 On Shabbat, police and border police forces cleared out a newly-founded outpost in the Binyamin region. During that operation, they detained twelve youths on suspicion of entering a closed military zone. The youths were taken to the Binyamin Police Station, where a GSS coordinator held threatening talks with them. The youths, most of whom are minors, some of them as young as 14, refused to be interrogated on Shabbat.

On Saturday night, after Shabbat, Honenu Attorney Nati Rom came to the police station and provided legal counsel to the youths before the police interrogated them. All of the youths were released overnight, on condition of a 15-day restraining order banning them from entering the outpost.

The outpost is located on a mountain ridge north of the British Police Junction, near Wadi al-Haramiya. Last week, an Arab mob attacked the outpost and burned tefilin, other religious articles, and structures.

Attorney Rom pointed out the discrimination against Jewish Yehuda and Shomron residents: “The security forces did not devote any resources to apprehending the violent Arabs who rioted at the outpost and burned the Jewish residents’ property last week. Instead, the Israel Police detained Jewish youths, some of them as young as 14, on Shabbat, and brought them to a GSS coordinator who threatened them. I do not recall left-wing protesters who blocked the Ayalon highway being detained and given threatening talks by the GSS. Unfortunately, when it comes to Yehuda and Shomron residents, the security forces forget what citizens’ rights are.”
