Tuesday, April 6, 2021, 8:45 On the morning of Tuesday, April 6, border police, army, and Civil Administration forces cleared the “Ma’aleh Ahuvia” outpost that had been set up at the site of the accident in which Ahuvia Sandak, z”l, was killed in a police car chase near the Ba’al Hatzor army base in the Binyamin region.
At of the time of this posting, there were reports of three demonstrators detained while protesting the destruction. An attorney from Honenu assisted the detainees. Witnesses at the scene reported police brutality. The security forces arrived at the site with six cranes to confiscate equipment from the outpost, which included a family’s house, several buildings housing single men, a goat pen and agricultural supplies.
Shmuel (Zangi) Meidad, director of Honenu: “The destruction is shocking, disturbing, and deeply wounding. The blood at the site of Ahuvia, z”l’s, death is still fresh. Youths, together with Ahuvia’s family and friends, chose to live at the site where his life was cut short, and decided to build new lives, a flourishing community. Now there is destruction. How did this happen? Unfortunately the ‘rule of clerks’ in Yehuda and Shomron, the Civil Administration and the police, is in charge – not the State of Israel. As we have seen recently on Channel 13 (Israeli), the Civil Administration is no longer ours.”
