Minors detained, interrogated without meeting with attorney – Update

Wednesday, May 30, 2018, 15:15 In the early afternoon on Wednesday, May 30, the deliberation on the case of the minor detained the previous day at his home in Bnei Brak ended. He had been interrogated by the GSS and prohibited from meeting with an attorney. At the conclusion of the deliberation the police issued a gag order on the details of the interrogation. According to what was stated at the deliberation, the minor is suspected of property misdemeanors only: graffiti and puncturing car tires.
Despite the lack of severity of the charges against him and his young age, the GSS issued an order prohibiting him from meeting with an attorney and an gag order on the details of the interrogation. At the deliberation the police demanded a 10-day remand extension, which the court reduced to six days.
On the same afternoon a deliberation took place on the case of an additional minor, an approximately 15-year-old Shomron resident who had been detained at his home the previous day. He is also charged with graffiti and puncturing car tires. He is allowed to meet with an attorney, but has not been informed of the incident of which he is suspected.
Honenu Attorney Avichai Hajbi is representing the minors and will make a formal statement immediately after the conclusion of the second deliberation.
