Police raid Oz Tzion without warrants

Monday, October 24, 2022, 9:12 Just before sunrise today (Monday), border police raided homes in Oz Tzion and detained seven residents, some of them minors. The policemen did not have warrants and were not authorized by law. The detainees were taken to the Binyamin Police Station and although they were not interrogated, they were remanded overnight. They were illegally handcuffed for many hours and held under unacceptable conditions. Honenu Attorney Nati Rom assisted the detainees at the police station.

Honenu Attorney Nati Rom: “The residents were detained at sunrise when police forces raided their homes without the authority of a court warrant, justifying the raid with a closed military zone order that is not binding on the residents in order to remove a family from their home and detain seven residents. This is a new level of rights violation of the residents. It is unfortunate that the Defense Minister is treating the illegal expulsion of Jews as part of an election campaign during a wave of terror.”
