Tuesday, January 10, 2023, 9:05 Two years have passed since Ahuvia Sandak, z”l, was killed in a police car chase with an unmarked Binyamin police car. Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, the Chief Rabbi of Tzfat, spoke to Ahuvia’s family and told them that their efforts were influencing and advancing Am Yisrael: “We would like to bless the entire extended Sandak family – this is a huge family – and everyone involved, with their hearts and their deeds, with you [the Sandak family], would like to bless you. It was not a coincidence that on the day of Ahuvia’s memorial, the leadership of the police and the government of Israel changed, and now there are leaders who are attentive and who do want to rectify, somewhat, as much as possible, the great injustice that was done with the death of Ahuvia. Your efforts, the efforts by all of this big family – striving, doing, influencing – have an effect on the entire world, on the supernatural worlds. And Am Yisrael advances and proceeds, step by step. … Out of this great sorrow, Am Yisrael advances and develops.”

Rabbi Eliyahu welcomed the reforms that are expected to be implemented in the judicial system, said that they are part of rectifying the injustice that was done to Ahuvia and his family, and continued: “May we merit witnessing ‘[and G-d] will restore our judges as at first, and our advisors as at the beginning; afterward you shall be called the city of righteousness, the faithful city’ (based on Is. 1:26).”
