Urgent request accepted

Wednesday, August 17, 2016, 16:57 Another success for Honenu: Major-General Roni Numa, the GOC of the Central Command, agreed to an urgent request filed by Honenu Attorney Menasheh Yado and will allow an Adei Ad resident distanced from his home to stay in Karnei Shomron, where his parents and his wife’s parents live, and where he works. Initially Maj.-Gen. Numa refused the request and demanded that the Adei Ad resident stay in the city of Ma’aleh Adumim while he is under house arrest at night, even though he has no connection to the city and is not able to find an apartment to rent within 48 hours.
However, after Yado filed an urgent request with the Military Appeals Committee to delay carrying out the order, an additional announcement was received from the Major-General. According to the announcement, after he considered the matter and spoke to Yigal Lahav, Head of the Karnei Shomron Local Council, he will allow the Adei Ad resident to stay in Karnei Shomron under the supervision of his parents.
Honenu Attorney Menasheh Yado: “Unfortunately only after an urgent request was filed did Major-General [Numa] retract the unreasonable and extreme demand requiring an individual to be under house arrest in a city in which he does not have a house and to which he has no connection whatsoever. The Major-General is taking advantage of his authority, also overstepping it, and violating the citizens’ rights. We will challenge the order and voice objection to the conduct of the Major-General before the Military Appeals Committee.”
