“Who is responsible for the error?”

Wednesday, February 21, 2018, 16:12 On Friday, February 16, the bodies of two terrorists, one from Bayt Surik who carried out the September 2017 attack in Har Adar, and the other from Halhul who carried out the February 2018 attack in Karmei Tzur, were returned to their families.
During a meeting with the Honenu Attorneys who are representing them, Avi and Michal Arish, the parents of Uri Arish, Hy”d, who was murdered in the Har Adar terror attack, received notification that the Chief of Staff had announced that the body of their son’s murderer had been released due to an error.
The parents who have been in shock for several days by the release of the terrorist and the huge official funeral held by the Palestinian Authority for the terrorist, called for an investigative committee to examine the error. The funeral was broadcast on the Arabic Al Quds network.
Avi Arish: “How could they return the body when there are still families who are waiting for their children’s bodies? We are shocked. This is contrary to the decision by the Security Cabinet. I do not understand who made the decision to transfer the body of the terrorist. Everything is being done quietly, without informing the [victims’] families.
“They transferred the bodies on Friday, before Shabbat. We saw the [funeral] procession and we were shocked.
“I want to see if the Defense Minister lost his son, G-d forbid, if also then they would transfer the body [of the murderer], and if then they would say ‘there was a problem’. What do they mean ‘a problem’? An investigative committee must be formed to examine exactly who is responsible for this error.
“Why are we giving them prizes? They took three children from us. What am I going to tell my son when he enlists tomorrow? Our lives have no value. It is impossible to believe that they are doing such a thing to us. We are bleeding. One can go crazy from a situation such as this. We are bleeding from our sorrow and suddenly they return [terrorists’] bodies? I cannot understand why they are doing such a thing.”
On Sunday, February 18, Honenu Attorneys Menasheh Yado and Chayim Bleicher sent a letter to the Prime Minister on behalf of the Arish and Ottman families demanding that he involve himself in the investigation to determine how the error occurred. The families also requested an urgent meeting with the Prime Minister.
