Wednesday, July 19, 2023, 16:55 Two days ago, administrative orders signed by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant were served to three Yehuda and Shomron residents for the durations of three, four, and six months. These detainees join five others who were also detained under orders by Minister Gallant after the terror attack in Eli several weeks ago. One of the detainees is engaged to be married in approximately two weeks. Today (Wednesday), two out of the three detainees were brought to a court hearing. Honenu Attorneys Nati Rom and David HaLevi are representing the detainees.

Attorney HaLevi stated, “This is an absurd and extreme incident. A young man who has contributed much to society in his IDF combat service suddenly finds himself under arbitrary administrative detention and is forced to defend himself while ‘his eyes are covered and his hands are tied’. We are witnesses to a slippery slope and a serious escalation of administrative orders being issued in an unrestrained manner. It seems that today the dam was breached and the Defense Minister has become a rubber stamp in the hands of certain security authorities and is signing draconian orders wholesale. He is not hesitating to do this with Israeli citizens who have served their country well. We ask that the use of administrative detentions against loyal Israeli citizens be stopped. The use of administrative detentions must be reserved for terrorists who are enemies of the State of Israel.”
