Wednesday, September 3, 2025, 9:16 Two months ago, Major-General Avi Bluth imposed a restraining order on a Binyamin resident prohibiting him from leaving his community of residence for three months. The order also places him under nighttime house arrest. On behalf of the resident, Honenu Attorney Adi Keidar asked Major-General Bluth to allow his client to join a late-night minyan for selihot prayers at the synagogue close to his home during the Hebrew month of Elul (August 25–September 22 this year). Major-General Bluth denied the request on the grounds that the resident is a “risk to the security of the region,” and suggested that he would allow the resident to participate in selihot prayers being held with a minyan at dawn.

Honenu Attorney Adi Keidar sharply criticized the decision: “If my client is so dangerous to the security of the region, his request should completely rejected. The Major-General’s response allowing his participation in selichot prayers at a different hour than that which he requested indicates that his claim is baseless and petty, and that the detainee is not a danger to anyone. My client is the victim of blatant harassment.”
