Wednesday, March 10, 2021, 11:25 At the entrance to Kochav HaShahar, as a woman was driving her husband to work this morning (Wednesday), detectives from the Central Unit of Yehuda and Shomron Police stopped the car and removed the couple and their baby from it. The police, who did not have a warrant and did not provide an explanation, impounded the car. The police refused to give the couple documents attesting to the impoundment and called a tow truck to the site.
Dozens of Kochav HaShahar and area residents arrived at the site to protest the police harassment. Some of the protesters sat on the road and blocked policemen. Honenu’s legal headquarters received reports of one detainee and eyewitnesses to the protest reported police brutality. Honenu Attorney Nati Rom provided legal counsel at the scene.
The protesters held signs protesting the conduct of the Central Unit of Yehuda and Shomron Police: “The Murderers Have Returned”, “Our Blood Has Been Shed”, and “Murderers Are Here”. The signs refer to the police car chase in which Kochav HaShahar resident Ahuvia Sandak, z”l, was killed in December 2020, very close to the community.
