Sunday, May 4, 2025, 10:49 On the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day (April 23-24), an Arab viciously attacked an elderly Jewish man in Jerusalem. Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher wrote a letter to the police demanding the arrest of the attacker, who has not yet been apprehended.
In his letter, Attorney Bleicher described the attack: “My client is an elderly Jewish man who lives on Derech Shechem Street (Nablus Road). At around 22:10, he left his home and walked toward Route 1. When he reached the intersection of Naomi Kiss Street and Derech Shechem Street, an Arab who had parked his car in the middle of the street, blocking traffic, got out of his car and spoke to his friends at the site. My client did not interact in any way with the Arab and continued on his way. The Arab noticed my client, whose appearance was traditionally Jewish, and for no reason approached him and suddenly attacked him, viciously beating him. The attacker kicked and punched my client’s head, chest, and legs. My client, suffering severe dizziness and intense pain, hurriedly fled the scene. The attacker went to his car, took out a hammer, and chased my client, intending to injure him even more seriously. Fortunately, the attacker’s friends stopped him.”
Attorney Bleicher underscored the severity of the attack and demanded that the police arrest the attacker and put him on trial: “Severely attacking an elderly man for no reason other than his Jewishness, on the street, in the capital city of Jerusalem, is reminiscent of dark eras. Horrifically, this occurred on the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day. The antisemitic attacker must be located as soon as possible by means of facial recognition with security camera recordings, identifying and locating his car, or other intelligence gathering methods.”
