Father of Barkan victim to speak at appeal

Wednesday, January 30, 2019, 16:05 On Thursday, January 31, a deliberation will take place at the Ofer Military Court on the appeal of the remand until end of proceedings of the mother and brother of the Barkan terrorist, who have been accused of knowing about his intent to carry out the attack and not stopping him. Additionally the brother of the terrorist has been accused of obscuring evidence after the attack. The appeal was filed by the defendants, who are demanding that the court order their release to house arrest.
Rafi Levengrond, the father of Kim Levengrond-Yehezkel, Hy”d, who was murdered in the attack, will arrive at the deliberation in order to protest the practicality of the defendants being released to house arrest. “I want to see whether or not even one of the judges has the guts to consider releasing one of the individuals who killed my daughter. I want him to look me in the eye and tell that he’s releasing him. And how does he think that he will bring him to trial if he releases him to house arrest? They will disappear!”
Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher, who is assisting the family, stated that, “Israel is coping with terror which receives support and sympathy from hotbeds of terrorism in Arab towns. Supporters of terror, especially the family of a terrorist, also pose a danger to the public. Families of murder victims will come to deliberations on the cases of collaborators and the families of terrorists, and will take action to see that all of levels of terrorists remain behind bars.”
