Chief Superintendent Erez Amouyal, who was the head of the team that investigated the arson attack in Kfar Duma, related that when police investigators arrived on the scene, they identified fresh tire tracks. Eyewitnesses also reported to the police and to the news media that they had seen at least one car that appeared to be fleeing the village.

If there is one thing that was clear beyond a shadow of a doubt to the police investigators and to the GSS, it is that the arsonists arrived by car. Among the detainees interrogated by the GSS there were at least two individuals who were detained because the tires of a car associated with them matched the tire tracks that were found at the scene.

However, the indictment has absolutely no mention of a car. According to the indictment, Amiram Ben Uliel walked the entire way from his home in Adei Ad to Kfar Duma – approximately four kilometers over rough terrain – and also returned on foot. What happened to the car? The GSS was forced to rely on testimony extracted from Amiram under “extreme duress” and by “special means”, in other words, torture, although it contradicted all of the testimonies from eyewitnesses and all of the findings at the scene.
